‘The Dialectic of Egoism and Altruism’: Revisited.

The Dialectic of Egoism and Altruism:  Revisited.

Dear Reader,

This morning our internet scanners turned up a new republication -- together with an audio-streaming reading of excerpts from -- a book that Karl Seldon wrote, with collaborators, in his twenties, nearly 50 years ago --

https://immediatism.com/podcast/97-the-right-to-be-greedy-theses-on-the-practical-necessity-of-demanding-everything-by-for-ourselves-council-for-generalized-self-management/

-- and it’s interesting to see how this text has taken on a cultural life of its own, without Seldon and/or his co-authors lifting a finger to get it re-published and re-published again over the ~ 50 years since its first debut.

The book even has its own Wikipedia article --

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Right_to_Be_Greedy

-- and Wikiquote pages --

-- and has roots in the second surviving letter that Engels ever wrote to Marx --

-- although Seldon and company didn’t know about that letter at the time that they wrote the text.

Happy Anti-Colonial Independence Day!
