State-Capitalism
and Marx’s Political-Economic “Law of Motion of Modern Society”.
Dear
Reader,
I found the
following discourse on the internet, which I think may be of interest to you --
The "law
of motion of modern society" includes a 'taxis to totalitarianism' based
on the increasingly unchecked power of national STATE-capitalism, a robust
socio-economic [de]formation which has many variants. Its historical variants
include German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian, and Argentine
"fascism", which involved a tyrannical state-bureaucracy that was
still nevertheless subordinate and subservient to the traditional
capital-owning ruling class.
The Stalinist
and Maoist variants of 'proto-state-capitalism' involved the liquidation of the
power of a weak, comprador national capitalist ruling class, and full
dictatorship by the state bureaucracy, based upon state-property and the
virtual outlawing of private capital property.
The
state-capitalism that is waxing today throughout "First World"
nation-states involves an increasingly dictatorial state-bureaucratic ruling
class, subordinate to a private-capitalist plutocracy.
In China, a
state-capitalist state-bureaucratic dictatorship tolerates a re-emerging
private capitalist class which is strictly subordinate to the state
bureaucracy.
In Russia, the
kleptocracy there consists typically of former members of the state bureaucracy
who have acquired vast private property by conversion of former state-property
to private property by theft. But these
new private capital owners survive as such only as cronies of the ruling state
bureaucrats, and lose their property, their liberty, even their lives, if they
fall out of favor with the state bureaucracy's ruler(s).
In the U.S.,
where state-property is officially frowned upon, every new "Great
Recession" brings at least temporary conversion of huge accumulations of
private capital into state-capital, with acquisition of capital equity stock in
those capitals, and even outright government ownership of whole enterprises, at
least temporarily.
The
alternative to the Orwellian tyranny of all of these variants of
state-capitalism is not "state-less" anarchism, but constitutional
political-ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY, with grass roots regulation of pollution, etc.,
externalities, with a personal safety net for each individual citizen, and with
citizen stewardship of social property in competing socialized producers'
cooperatives, in which every member of each such cooperative receives two
monthly income streams -- compensation for time-worked, and an equal share in
the net operating surplus of that cooperative -- and in which the management of
that cooperative is elected, mandated, recallable by the membership, and
term-limited.
The Executive
Branches of national, provincial, and local government would need also to cease
to be appointive -- key commissions, bureaus, regulatory agencies, etc., would
need to be led also by elected, mandated, term-limited, and recallable
delegates of the people.
