CONTRACIDE’.

GLOBAL STRATEGIC HYPOTHESES.

Dear Reader,

‘Contra-Cide’ – “contra-killing” – is our name for a principle potentially implementable with the higher development of military strategy in an advanced civilization – one considerably more advanced technologically, and morally, than our own – when confronting a hostile adversary of combatants hell-bent, as usual, on killing as many of that advanced civilization’s soldiers and citizens as possible, in hopes of “victory”.

As Marx once noted, a human society’s actually operative morality – as distinct from aspirational and lip-service morality – can never rise higher than the development its social forces of production can support.

A sufficient leap forward in the level of the social forces of production – a leap sufficient to catapult human society into “escape velocity”; to beyond what Marx called “the prehistory of humanity”, i.e., beyond the capitalist instar of humanity – albeit that the growth of human-societal self-reproductive force usually also translates, in part, to a growth in the human-societal self-destructive force, could enable a more humane departure from the lose-lose aspect of the consequences of war throughout humanity’s “pre-history” to-date.

The advanced weapons-systems of such a productively and reproductively advanced, ‘post-prehistoric’ human civilization could be engineered in a new way.

Such weapons systems might be designed to disable the weapons of the less-advanced adversary – a human-social adversary more backward, both morally and techno-logically – that seeks to attack and conquer or destroy the more advanced human civilization.

The advanced weapons-systems could be designed to destroy only the weapons of the humans who wield them, without harming the bodies of those other humans.

Or, the advanced weapons-systems could be designed to render those adversary’s weapons simply inoperative and irreparable, without any bodily injury to the combatants.

It might, or might not, be necessary to take the adversary’s then weaponless combatants into ‘‘‘protective custody’’’, until a settlement could be negotiated which would render them non-combatants, by a willingly mutually-enacted treaty securing peace.

If such custody were to be necessary, the adversary’s combatants should, per this ‘principle of contracide’, be held in the most humane conditions; in befriending conditions that might develop toward friendships between the two sides in many cases.

Such humane treatment and provisioning of the combatants in custody is something that a society of highly-developed ‘self-re-productive self-force’, and hence, also of high all-round prosperity, could well afford to do, and could not afford not to do.

Alas, for the present, we are all still “lost somewhere deep in prehistoric times” [Seldon].
