Capitalism’s
FATAL FLAW
Defined/Described
in a
Single Sentence
[164
words].
Dear Reader,
The
fatal flaw of the Capitalist System, as Karl Marx predicted*, and sought to warn global humanity about, is that,
at its high-productivity, fixed-capital-intensive stage, it attacks
industrial/banking capitals’ profitability, via the accelerated progress in
industrial machinery technology that the capitalist profit motive itself
incentivizes, and, via accelerated technological obsolescence depreciation and
write-off of legacy industrial fixed capital value, and its backing bank-loan
value, forced by also-growing world market competition, drives its ruling class
to attack the, technological, growth of the “social forces of production” –
i.e., of the ‘societal self-reproductive self-force’ of the human species –
which is the fount of all progress for humanity, and that ruling faction uses
its colossal power to act, in every conceivable way, to, at first, reduce
that societal self-reproduction rate, and, later, to reverse
that self-reproduction/[self-]productivity growth rate, eventually including
pogroms to collapse the very core of that ‘societal
self-reproductive self-force’, the human population itself, thereby lowering
the ‘meta-Darwinian fitness’ of the human species to the
extinction threshold. [164 words]
*[See,
for example, Marx’s Preface to his A Contribution to the Critique of
Political Economy, especially –
“In the social production
which humans1 carry on they
enter into definite relations that are indispensable and independent of their
will; these relations of production correspond to a definite stage of
development of their material powers of production. …”
“At a certain stage
of their development the material forces of production come into conflict with
the existing relations of production… . From
forms of development of the forces of production these relations turn into
their fetters. Then comes the period of
social revolution… In considering such transformations the distinction should
always be made between the material transformation of the economic conditions
of [M.D.: social re-]production, which can be determined with the precision
of natural science, and the legal, political, religious, aesthetic or
philosophic – in short, ideological – forms in which humans1 become conscious of this conflict and fight it out.”
See
also Capital. A
Critique of Political Economy, Book III, Part III, The Law of
the Tendency of the Rate of Profit to Fall, wherein Marx applies the ‘historically
generic’ “law” of human social evolution/revolution [/‘meta-evolution’],
that he discovered, as stated above, to the “historically specific” case
of the capitalist system, and to the capitalist epoch of human [“pre-”]history.
1[In nineteenth century usage, “men” generally meant human
beings in general. Therefore, to
preserve the meaning Marx intended, per contemporary usage, we have replaced “men”
with “humans”. To see that Marx was no
sexist, despite ruling class servants’ claims to the contrary, simply consult Marx’s
1844 manuscripts, Third Manuscript: “The
immediate, natural and necessary relation of human being to human being is also
the relation of man to woman. … . From this relationship man’s whole level of
development can be assessed.”].
